Yubikey C FIPS
Technical specifications
The Yubikey FIPS is a FIPS 140-2 certified device (Global: level 2, Physical security: level 3) based on the Yubikey 4. It features 5 independent sub-modules that can be used simultaneously. NB: Some software, such as GPG, can lock the USB CCID interface, preventing other software from accessing submodules using this mode.
Interface
The Yubikey C FIPS uses a USB-C 2.0 interface. All applications are available on this interface.
OTP
The OTP applet contains 2 programmable slots, each of which can store the following types of identifier:
- Yubico OTP
- HMAC-SHA1 Challenge-Response
- Static password
- OATH-HOTP
OATH
The Yubikey 5 series can store up to 32 OATH identifiers (supports OATH-TOTP and OATH-HOTP). To access this applet, you need the 'Yubico Authenticator' application.
Open PGP
This application implements version 2.0 of the Open PGP smartcard specification, which can be used with GnuPG.
NB: From yubikey firmware 5.2.3 onwards (and higher), version 3.4 of the Open PGP specification is implemented. For key sizes above 2048 bits, GnuPG version 2.0 or higher is required.

U2F
The U2F application can hold an unlimited number of U2F identifiers, and is FIDO-certified.
PIV (smart card)
This application provides a PIV-compatible smart card. Under Windows, smart card functionality can be enhanced by using the 'Yubikey Smart Card' minidriver.
